Yin yoga is a slow, meditative practice targeting the deeper connective tissues of the joints. The postures are held for a long time, cultivating stillness both in the mind and body. Holding gentle stress on the connective tissue for several minutes allows for lengthening of the tissue and helps move energy through the body, promoting healing. This is a practice where time, not effort, is the healer. Learning to patiently wait as the body responds calms the mind while developing the qualities of patience, gratitude and contentment. No experience necessary.
