Chiropractic Services, Physical Therapy, & Therapeutic Massage for Unparalleled Integrated Treatment

Spine & Sport Annapolis is Your Home for Improved Comfort & Enhanced Performance

Getting lasting solutions for pain can be challenging, especially when treating symptoms rather than the cause of your symptoms. Unfortunately, many fall into this trap when trying to manage joint, soft tissue, and spine discomfort and imbalances.

In our Annapolis chiropractic clinic, we want to help you stop the cycle.

Using numerous highly effective services and treatments, we can determine the root cause of your pain and initiate a tailored plan using chiropractic care, physical therapy, and corrective massage. These three healthcare practices work together to provide a level of treatment and guidance unlike the usual.

Services and techniques we offer include:

chiropractic adjustment

Chiropractic Services

Dr. Raymond Infanti utilizes manual and instrument-assisted chiropractic care techniques that deliver small but focused force to spinal components and affected joints. Shifting these impaired areas back to proper placement eases neurological symptoms, reduces muscular strain, and helps you move without pain and restriction-free.

We understand that spine and joint dysfunction are often due to impacted tissues surrounding the area of concern. Our team will acknowledge and treat the body as a whole to ensure you get the best results.

We frequently use manipulation modalities on our athletic patients to help them quickly and safely find comfort, balance, function, and range of motion; however, many kinds of people with many kinds of lifestyles can benefit from chiropractic adjustments, spinal manipulations, and other chiropractic services.

Techniques that may be used during a chiropractic appointment include:

Chiropractic adjustment and spinal manipulation

Precise, targeted pressure applied to specific spinal regions or joints realigns the body, restoring optimal function and balance.

We use adjustments to treat many pains and conditions, including:

  • Headaches
  • Sciatica
  • Whiplash
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Back pain
  • Shin splints
  • Knee pain
  • Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Shoulder pain

Active Release Technique (ART)

ART is a soft tissue treatment that employs focused pressure combined with precise movements to dissolve adhesions and heal damaged tissues that cause pain and limit mobility.

We use ART to treat many pains and conditions, including:

  • Shoulder pain
  • Tennis elbow
  • Sciatica
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Headaches
  • Back pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Shin splints
  • Knee problems

Dry needling

When thin microneedles are inserted into the skin at trigger points or areas of muscle pain, superficial lesions promote fast-acting oxygen, blood, and nutrients to the affected tissue, initiating quicker healing and comfort.

We use dry needling to treat pains and conditions that include:

  • Low back pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Disc issues
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Sciatica
  • Joint pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Tennis elbow

Fascial stretch therapy

This therapy consists of assisted stretching for highly targeted areas of the body, improving the health and function of soft tissues and joints. Flexibility is vital to correct movement patterns, making stretching a key benefit in injury management and proactive care.

The Graston Technique

This technique uses a special tool to re-establish proper tissue function. Instrument-assisted tissue treatments are an excellent resource for finding dysfunction and getting deep into the affected tissues, nurturing efficient and effective healing.

The Graston Technique will:

  • Identify areas of concern
  • Reduce and break down scar tissue
  • Encourage blood flow
  • Simulate healing
  • Restore mobility and comfort

McKenzie Method

The McKenzie Method is often used to effectively treat back, neck, and extremity problems. It utilizes meticulous and conscientious movement rather than rest to encourage healing and strengthening without reliance on pain medication and more aggressive healthcare treatments that can negatively impact the body and cause further trauma.

Physical Therapy Services

Physical therapy is provided by Jeremy W. Cugle, PT, MPT with the support of Christina Marcus, PTA.

Physical therapy is treatment provided by a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant that helps individuals improve their movement and physical function, manage pain and other chronic conditions, and recover from and prevent injury and chronic disease.

Focusing on optimizing function, we aim to improve mobility, strength, awareness, and comfort so patients can move with greater ease and intention to perform at their peak potential.

The physical therapy techniques we offer include the following:

Mulligan concept physical therapy and Mulligan mobilization with movement

Our Annapolis physical therapist utilizes Mulligan concept physical therapy and Mulligan mobilization with movement. This proven approach consists of manual treatments delivered by our therapist with intentional patient movement to improve the body’s overall health, balance, and mobility.

McKenzie Method

The McKenzie Method is a proven approach for addressing back, neck, and extremity issues. This technique emphasizes intentional, guided movements to promote healing and build strength, avoiding the need for pain medications or invasive treatments that can strain the body or lead to additional complications.

Kinesio taping

Kinesio tape is a therapeutic, flexible tape that supports muscles, joints, and ligaments while in use. This allows patients to continue activities safely without the need for downtime that can cause further damage.

Taping is often used on our athletic patients to help with various conditions; some include:

  • Inflammation and adhesions
  • Improved athletic performance
  • Reduced downtime and need for pain medication
  • Injury prevention
  • Relaxation for overused muscles
  • Improved circulation

Dry needling

The insertion of thin needles into trigger points (sore muscle areas). These needles are “dry” without medication or other injectable agent. Dry needling can inactivate trigger points to encourage pain reduction, increase circulation, and improve muscular activation and range of motion (ROM) leading to heightened activity tolerance. Research supports dry needling as a valid interventional technique for reduction of pain and muscle tension.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

A form of myofascial mobilization similar to deep tissue massage. This technique targets fascial restrictions and tissue adhesions. Application of IASTM helps to reduce pain, improve tissue mobility, impact circulatory dynamics, and promote tissue recovery to aid in return to function.

Myofascial Cupping Therapy

Myofascial cups use decompressive technology to loosen and lift connective tissue and improve circulation of blood and lymph to soft tissues, stimulating the body’s natural healing process We use this technique to treat pain, reduce tension, and calm the nervous system.

Edrrick Neric, LMT, and Athena Boyd are Spine & Sport Annapolis licensed massage therapists. They are skilled in determining the best therapeutic massage using a patient-centered approach. From relaxation strategies to targeted injury management, the massage therapy techniques offered play an integral in repairing and restoring the body and mind.

Some of the massage therapies we use include:

This type of targeted massage uses slow, deliberate strokes and firm, direct pressure to address chronic muscle tension, injuries, and pain points.

We can effectively alleviate several conditions with deep tissue massage, including:

  • Chronic pain
  • Mental stress
  • Poor posture
  • Adhesions or scar tissue
  • Inflammation
  • Muscle tension

Deep tissue massage can control pain and induce relaxation by boosting blood flow, nutrients, and oxygen to compromised areas.

Medical massage

Medical massage is a therapeutic approach targeting specific health issues delineated by a patient’s physician. These massages promote healing and enhance circulation to affected tissues.

Some injuries we can treat with medical massage include:

  • Overuse injuries
  • Strains and sprains
  • Tennis elbow
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • Arthritis
  • Rotator cuff injuries

Tailored to individual needs, medical massage can significantly improve overall well-being and support quicker recovery processes.

Myofascial release

Myofascial release is a manual therapy technique that focuses on relieving tension in the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles.

By applying gentle sustained pressure, it helps restore movement, reduce pain, and improve flexibility. This therapy is beneficial for treating injuries, chronic pain, and postural issues, as it promotes relaxation and healing circulation.

Swedish massage

Swedish massage offers numerous benefits, including relaxation, reduced muscle tension, and improved circulation.

Our gentle technique uses long, fluid strokes to promote well-being and alleviate stress. It also enhances flexibility, aids injury recovery, and fosters better sleep quality, contributing to overall health and restoration.
